Some connections don't announce themselves. They arrive through a length of rope, a stranger's weight, the quiet surprise of two people discovering they fit.
That's the premise behind The First Tie an evening designed for the rope-curious who want to arrive alone, meet others, and find out what happens when a rope passes between people who have never touched before.
The night opens with a live performance by Ena and Roxu, the duo behind SPNKD Berlin. In the spring of 2024, at the European Rigger & Model Exchange in Berlin, they tied together for the first time at a rope speed-dating event. Strangers were paired briefly, then rotated on. Except Ena and Roxu didn't quite rotate. Something passed between them in that first tie that neither of them had words for yet. A few minutes of rope became a conversation, became a collaboration, became a life shared in and out of ropes.
Their performance recreates that moment the not-yet-knowing, the slow discovery of another person's weight and breath and edges. A first tie, performed now with all the knowledge of what it became. It will be intimate to watch.
After the performance, the evening opens into a mixer. Through a series of short, guided exchanges, guests are paired with others to explore what it actually feels like to give and receive rope with someone they've only just met. Each round is brief. Each pairing different. The pace is unhurried. The pressure is low.
What you're paying attention to is the space between two people when one picks up a rope and the other follows. You may be surprised by what you notice. You may be surprised by who you notice it with.
Ena and Roxu hold the room throughout reading the energy, guiding each exchange with care. Nothing is required except curiosity and a willingness to be present.
The First Tie is hosted by SPNKD Berlin, a Kreuzberg-based collective creating intimate, consent-centered kink experiences.
